Durif 2016

When handpicked at the right time, hot vintage conditions - like those experienced in 2016 - deliver powerful fruit flavours and characters that are, simply, very Rutherglen. There is length, earth and weight - but also freshness - to this Durif. This style celebrates the persistent and fine tannin that the region's flagship red varietal delivers. 

Now eight years old, this tannin supports intense flavours of plum, red currants and dark forest fruits. The power of the 2016 vintage is evident, yet delivered by fruit intensity rather than fruit ripeness.

New oak was a key feature in the wine upon release. With age we see oak providing the stage for the star of the show: beautiful fruit, handpicked at peak intensity.
